Class Overview

Basic Firearms & Safety Procedures for CCW

This twelve hour course is designed for beginning and experienced shooters who wish to increase their understanding of the fundamentals so they can master the shooting skills and attitudes essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family. The student will have the opportunity to explore concealed carry options and potential legal concerns. This course meets the requirements as currently set forth in Ohio’s CCW legislation.

In the classroom students learn:

Basic safety rules and procedures

Handgun components and functioning

Proper weapon and ammunition storage and transportation

Ammunition basics

Loading and unloading

Shooting fundamentals (grip, stance, sighting and trigger management)

Legal Aspects of Concealed Carry - Q&A

Concealment Options/Techniques

Additional CCW required topics and test

On the Range students learn:

Range/Firearm safety

Marksmanship fundamentals with appropriate coaching

Threat distance and use of deadly force

Prerequisite for this course

None

The Defensive Firearms Training Center will provide:

Targets

class materials

training by certified instructors.

Students will provide:

Firearm,  holster, ammo (200) rounds

eye and ear protection

appropriate jacket or cover for concealed carry shooting.

Speedloaders or extra magazines highly recommended

Cost:

Per person cost is $125.00.
